On the morning of September 26th, in Quy Nhon ward, the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) in Vietnam, in collaboration with the Binh Dinh Wood and Forest Products Association, organized a workshop titled "FSC Certification – Connecting Sustainable Production Chains to Support Forest Protection and Mitigate Climate Change Impacts".
Attending the workshop were Mr. Nguyen Van Dien – Deputy Director of the Department of Forestry and Forest Protection; Dr. Michelle Wong – Deputy Director of FSC Asia-Pacific; and representatives from more than 100 domestic businesses involved in processing and exporting forest products, forestry companies, and forest owners.
At the workshop, delegates were updated on the development of the wood product chain, the European Union's anti-deforestation regulations (EUDR), the FSC wood product production chain model, trends in the development of the FSC certification system, and new solutions related to EUDR.
Within the framework of the workshop, a panel discussion was held on the topic "FSC Sustainable Production Chain – Connecting and Supporting Forest Development and Protection". Here, representatives from management agencies, businesses, and forest owners exchanged ideas, offered suggestions, and proposed solutions to strengthen cooperation and contribute to improving the effectiveness of sustainable forest management and development.
Later that same day, also in Quy Nhon ward, FSC Vietnam continued its collaboration with the Binh Dinh Wood and Forest Products Association to organize a training conference on "Forest Management Standards for Smallholder Farmers (RFSS) and FSC's partnership with EUDR," with the participation of over 100 domestic businesses and forest owners.
Here, FSC Vietnam shared important information about forest management standards for farmers, group certification models, FSC programs compliant with EUDR, and future activity plans, opening up further opportunities for cooperation and development of production chains linked to the goal of sustainable forest protection.
